Rainfall unleashed the dirty water on the prowl
And the dirty water was further fouled by fowl
In the mud house watching recycled flood water
We wished forever our misdeeds did not matter
We wanted to play in the muddled water's crest
Wade and splash our young bodies without rest
We wished father was away for we felt restrained
Restrained by fear of whips on our tender behind
We huddled and whispered in innocent sadness
How we wished father would close our emptiness
The wind lifted our roof, drenched us in rain water
Everyone was happy except our dear wise father

What if it Never Rains?
If it never rains
I’ll remain in the valley
Leave hilltops to dreamers
And with my valley paramour
I, too, shall ascend to climax
If it never rains
I'll lie below the winds
And transform the earth
Here, I'll harvest the crops
And make me a mud dwelling
If it never rains
I'll make a friend
Of the earth and crops
I'll shed no tears
For tears remind of dreamers rains
I'll spend my days
By the waterfalls at the lake
I'll transform my valley
And make it the envy of the sky
If it never ever rains
If it never rains
I shall not worry about dreams
Flies may fly where I dwell
Drums may speak in the valley too
I, too, will conquer death
I will say to dreamers of rain
Come, come see my valley
My mud house, my world
Tomorrow, sure, it may yet rain
But today I have lived
I am resting in perfect peace
And in perfect peace I am resting
I’ll remain in the valley
Leave hilltops to dreamers
And with my valley paramour
I, too, shall ascend to climax
If it never rains
I'll lie below the winds
And transform the earth

And make me a mud dwelling

Rise and Live
If every day you will smile and rise and live
What your heart will desire you will achieve
Take time off slowly count from one to five
Smile and clap to tell the world you’re alive

My rhythm and my swagger
She accused me of singing out of rhythm
It was the same song she sang with him
Let me rhyme to my own unique swagger
Borrowed steps or songs make me stagger

Lisa has gone astray
Lisa our neighbor has gone astray
Why she’s so nasty I just can’t say
Lisa eats squirrels, birds, and rats
Lisa was the finest of all stray cats

Stranded in France
I met a friend in France
And asked her for finance
She said: ’Je t’aime monsieur”’
“But France is for romance”
I pleaded like a connoisseur
She said I had no chance
She said “if you lack finance”
“Then get away from France”

My Imaginary Goat
My goat once lost his horn
He was sad and badly torn
He spent days on the run
Wishing he was never born
While he was running alone
He found another someone
That goat was a happy one
They both just lay in the sun
This my silly poem is done

Never forget days of sunshine
Forget not the joys of days of sunshine
And dwell not on the interludes of gray
Recall the joys and sweetness of wine
Nourish your thoughts positively today

Expand your mind
Come and join the traveling minds
We leave at dark but arrive in day
We leave the physical self behind
Come join our trips to sunny rays

Mowing the grass
Green grass, green grass, what have you done
I cut you and mow you and you never ever run
You see my lawn mower and never ever hide
Green grass, green grass, where is your pride

Food and Prayer Debate
Whether we must eat before we pray
Or we first must pray before we eat
One rigid, non-debatable, fact today
Is the food is dead and we must eat

What are you thinking?
If again I find you lost in contemplation
I will sit and watch with quiet admiration
I will contemplate, deliberate, and think
Until my thoughts and yours are in sync
But as I wonder what you are thinking
You might wonder what I am drinking

Intoxicating Friendship
Witness my exultation because of your sweet self
I will shout with exuberance to even the very deaf
I will write in glowing language of noisy jubilation
Because of you I am infused with pure intoxication

Endless Poem Just For You
One day I sat down to write a poem
Inspired by you who in my mind roam
A poem with a beginning but no end
Fine poem too large to comprehend
I wanted it out of this world of ours
A timeless poem of endless powers
It would forever float above gravity
And defy all known human ingenuity
Make it even brighter than the moon
Night, morning, and every afternoon
It would transmit quakes and shakes
In sundry temporal valleys and lakes
I started writing seamlessly through
Such a wonderful poem just for you
Yes, the thought of you reading this
Inspired this my strange poetic bliss
I will compose such poem just for you
Promise to read it when I’m through

The letter she wrote to him
Such a wonderful day the day we met
Bright and sunny though soaked by rain
I loved it then even though it was wet
Better than this sunny day that I feel pain
I wish to go back in time without regret
To rescue this union flushed down the drain

Man to Woman
If you needed the anchor of my shoulder
And I knew you lacked the courage to ask
I would surely offer it and make you bolder
And if I knew your pretense was just a mask
Just a girl looking for someone to hold her
I would still offer the anchor of my shoulder

Wise Counsel of Elders
I finally sought our elders in a kingdom
So that I, too, may increase in wisdom
I rose at dawn and travelled in darkness
They gave me such fine light of brightness
Illuminated the darkness on my destination
Dispossessed me of all youthful indiscretion

A good friend
Lost in the shadows of distrust
Declining into melancholy rust
It was the twilight of her charms
When reason and friendly arms
Her melancholy mind did adjust
Her fears and distrust did disarm

Rainfall on her dress
Rainfall has you in wetness blessed
And your heart no longer distressed
You, wet, yet so beautifully dressed
Eternity your heart finally impressed

Beware girl stealer
You really ought to watch your back
You stealer of my girl
Because when the night is very dark
You stealer of my girl
Because when the night is very dark
I'll give your head a thrill

Man up for her
You warn him once and warn him twice
He told you 'go to hell'
Then man up and make him pay a price
For stealing that your girl
He told you 'go to hell'
Then man up and make him pay a price
For stealing that your girl

Lost to sea
His young heart fell in love with the girl
Sunning under the tree
And then the evening boat set to sail
And took the girl to sea
Sunning under the tree
And then the evening boat set to sail
And took the girl to sea

Acting for nothing
His acting gave the crowd a thrill
People he didn’t even know
Just to impress and toast a girl
And nothing more to show
People he didn’t even know
Just to impress and toast a girl
And nothing more to show

What she said to him
It's true I finally came to grips
With what I had to do
When I heard you full of quips
I knew you did it too
So get the stepping off my crib
With what I had to do
When I heard you full of quips
I knew you did it too
So get the stepping off my crib

Oh, Please!
Discard your silly bravado
And put away your guns
You think I’m just a matador
Who sees a bull and runs
Away with all your silly tales
And come and deal with now
I have no use for fairytales
They are just like flying cows
And put away your guns
You think I’m just a matador
Who sees a bull and runs
Away with all your silly tales
And come and deal with now
I have no use for fairytales
They are just like flying cows

Here and now
I told you keep your fancy tale
Of things from your past
Those fancy tales will never fail
To give my mind a blast
I want to deal with here and now
My problems of today
Come be my friend and take a vow
To take them all away
Of things from your past
Those fancy tales will never fail
To give my mind a blast
I want to deal with here and now
My problems of today
Come be my friend and take a vow
To take them all away

Salute Imagination
I salute the imagination which spurs my creativity
Creative imagination makes these poems a reality
These poetic reality, this knowledge that you see
Is the reality that imagination birthed from fantasy

Free Imagination
I propose that imagination is best unleashed to roam
The pursuit of raw belief thus may crystallize into form
While imagination, mis-directed, often births ignorance
Free imagination more often births positive substance

Free imagination more often births positive substance

Respect Imagination
Imagination is the birth mother of the wisdom of the sages
But notice it often gives birth to a crazy mind that rampages
Which is why there is a school which imagination disparages
My imagination counsels against joining that war of averages
But notice it often gives birth to a crazy mind that rampages
Which is why there is a school which imagination disparages
My imagination counsels against joining that war of averages

My Wayward Imagination
One day I imagined that Miss Africa was mine
For seven hours and twenty five minutes mine
But when I woke up, knowledge slapped my face
And I discovered that imagination is a disgrace
Then I imagined my high school love was still mine
Still mine, after years of separation, still mine
When I woke up, knowledge kicked me in the head
And I discovered that imagination is a knucklehead
Then my bills I imagined were no longer mine
No longer would I fear my landlord, that swine
When I woke up, knowledge poked in my eyes
And I discovered that imagination is not wise
Then I imagined the entire world were mine
And that I did nothing but dine and wine
When I woke up, knowledge gave me a slap
And I discovered that imagination is a lot of crap
Miss Africa will never be mine by imagination alone
My sweetheart from Old High is married and gone
My bills, oh bills, will always laugh at my rumination
And if the world is mine, why do I need imagination?
For seven hours and twenty five minutes mine
But when I woke up, knowledge slapped my face
And I discovered that imagination is a disgrace
Then I imagined my high school love was still mine
Still mine, after years of separation, still mine
When I woke up, knowledge kicked me in the head
