Emotion versus Reason

Emotion is always faster

A brutal reason’s master

It riles you quick to anger

And pushes you to danger

Strive to reason stronger

You’ll live a little longer

In thoughts in all seasons

Promote civilized reason

A night at the movies

Held hands at a movie

Her hair long and wavy

Her slim shape so curvy

Air of jealousy so heavy

Men’s heart full of envy

Like a movie life’s groovy

Wined Fine Sorority

Wild college bunch did wine

Joined the frat and did a line

But I confess that in my time

Wined sorority were all fine

Mend her broken feathers

A shelter in wintry weather

We gathered there together

A bird with broken feathers

We released from her tether

But sometime in the morning

We heard a songbird warning

You did not mend my feathers

Why move me from my tether

High on Caffeine

My older brother he was mean

I was only five and he was teen

He’d wash me until I was clean

Scrub me till you saw the sheen

He went to places I’ve not been

To places like sugar and caffeine

Our fortress is fortified

Today the clouds arrived with stealth

Clouds of dust that cloud ones health

Today we refuse, decline, and reject

Clouds of rust that weak minds affect

Today we reinstall the old fallen gates

Solid so that no cloud ever penetrates

We have built a fortress against clouds

A fortress of forever cloudless shrouds  

Dream me back to happiness

Lively youths and we were proud

Neon lights in restless city crowd

Drunk with happiness in its prime

Joyous music of a long gone time

We still nurse the hope of revival

In dreams we reach a new arrival

In our dreams we'll long no more

We are back to happiness so pure
