Son of a Gun

A father said to a troubled son
Put down that your stupid gun
Guns lead you to a big mistake
A gun will not a real man make

The stubborn son said to his Pa
Remember you were never far
Pa you too owned a stupid gun
I learned to be my father’s son

Inept is Unfit for the Mind

One man thought himself inept
No lady would the inept accept
He met few girls inept like him
With chances only none to slim

The word inept just means unfit
Allow not unfit your being admit
Allow not inept your spirit bind
'Cause inept is unfit for the mind

The Blacksmith's Gift

Desiring to remain your king
A blacksmith gives you a ring
Offered as loves bonding gift
So two souls are never adrift

Has a blacksmith’s gifted offer
Melted a heart to golden lover
Or is his jewel designed in vain
For one heart still adrift in pain

My Lovely Cup

Tea drinkers of China cuddle their cups
Archaeologists dig up petroglyphs’ cups
A small piece of ladies’ clothing has cups
Even a ball player’s jockstraps spot cups

But my lovely cup is not a drinking ware
No archaeological carvings do compare
Not ladies’ or ball players’ clothing affair
Love is my fountain cup of eternal desire

Be Gone Winter Blues

Oh, winter blues, such bad news
Depart so summer can get loose
The snow is fine but not the cold
If summer comes I’ll be consoled

Oh, winter blues, bearer of woes
Be gone so summer may be close
Your snow is fine but now I freeze
In hope I long for summer breeze

Pains bring Gains

Our stocks in knowledge forever rise
In proportion to our mental exercise
So does adversity that lingers longer
It nurtures endurance even stronger

So those who now struggle with pain
Must be consoled that they will gain
And if your ventures pains constrain
Your stock in sunshine will rise again

You are the one and only you

You may float on heavenly clouds
Or just sprint with earthly crowds
Be yourself and seek your dreams
See your torchlight brightly beams

No other being exists in your mold
A shinning gem so unique like gold
So walk on paths that suit you best
You float or sprint or walk and rest

The Thief of Heart

If I were a bad thief but smart
I’d steal but a fine lonely heart
Lonely hearts are works of art
Artistic works that stand apart

If I could find a heart like that
I’d make it my fine graphic art
I’d steal and from it never part
Then steal no more, I’d depart

Love has no middle

In excluded middle logician view
“I love you” is either false or true
All middle grounds are excluded
Believers in middle are deluded

Some doubt love and just fiddle
Some believe love yet do diddle
Let’s solve the old lovers’ riddle
With law of the excluded middle

One Wife is Better than Three

There was a man not long ago
He was as bad as he was slow
His wife was even twice as bad
She slowly badly made him sad

He got himself two more wives
To add some speed to their lives
Now each wife is a stinging knife
He's three times now full of strife

Tell her lies once in a while

Tell her she’s your pumpkin pie
That her image makes you high
And even more she’s such a doll
She gets you drunk than alcohol

As you scheme and tell these fibs
Make your manner of speech glib
‘Cause if she sees your dirty fraud
Brother you will be dripping blood

My Colorful Mango

I imagine you in the atmosphere
In all your grandest delicate flare
I see sparkling droplets of water
In the droplets you lie like a star

Sun shines droplets into rainbow
Beautiful colors of a ripe mango
You, the fruit of my imagination
The lovely star of my inspiration

Primitive Measure of a Man

The assault on your integrity
Gently disregard with dignity
But be a man if branded weak
Please find some butts to kick

It is true a man should not blab
Or seek someone’s back to stab
But doubts of his manly potency
Naturally he fights with urgency

Teach Your Child

Teacher said your child is wild
Who has duty to teach the child
Teach the daughter or the son
The teacher is not the only one

We mustn’t sit at home and sob
And say the child is teacher’s job
The teacher is just a helping hand
This fact we all must understand

Best things in life are free

Rainfalls are for rich and poor
Sunshine rays we freely adore
The air I breathe is free as well
When love is free it will not fail

Those best of life are really free
A fact with which all wise agree
But just in case you don't agree
Agree with me this poem is free

Head and Heart Always at War

Old love our head will disclaim
Yet soul and heart often affirm
In our head old love failed ideals
Yet our loving heart never heals

Our warm heart daily confirms
That letter “u” has two rhymes
First rhyme in your heart is you
Second rhyme in old love is true

Most Beautiful of all Creations

The sages of old saw beauty in the stars
Philosophers wrote of beauty from afar
Explorers found beauty in distant lands
The artist draws beauty with his hands

But even stars all around celestial bodies
Never grip men like the beauty of ladies
Of the beauty of ladies men know so well
That in their eyes no finer creations dwell

Mansions and Jails

There is lively joy in mansions
Nourishing egos and passions
And most who domicile in jails
Often live on unbalanced scales

So too the jurisdiction of a mind
Should be balanced and refined
Be careful where the mind sails
A joyful mansion or painful jail

Mystery wedding guest

Those tears she was shedding
Rattled the beautiful wedding
Upset the guests in the room
Riled the bride and the groom

The priest finally did interject
‘Does any person here object’
Mystery teary lady loudly rose
‘I love the girl’ she said in prose

Other guests cried even more
Mystery one ran out the door
The vows were said faithfully
And all went home so happily

Hide not your knowledge

Knowledge acquired but not disseminated
Is like a sprinter permanently incarcerated
Release knowledge in order to promulgate
Or it will fade or fester and finally dissipate

Many a man to his grave went with wisdom
A loss to seekers of knowledge or freedom
Wish you would acquired knowledge share
To enrich your world for all those who care

Life is Good

They that fight for things and space
Are those who think that life’s a race

But take time now admire your place
And see that quiet life is full of grace

We get one then we seek two more
Never content with the one before

Discard that circle of constant chase

Discover the fragrance of living grace

Lifting Weight

Sweating and lifting weight
A process whose end is great
Huge muscles from the start
I’m feeling good in my heart

The hearty weight I lift is you
This lifting never ends is true
If you let me lift you up today
You see my muscles everyday

Throw your cards on her table

Be done with all fancy fable
Put your cards on the table
Drag not your feet on desire
Lengthy tardiness dims fire

If your heart does fancy her
If she’s someone else’s lover
Still those cards on her table
May her lover’s ties disable

Meditation on Silence

Today silence grips my thoughts
As my mind in deliberation trots
With eyes on my poetic license
I sit here to meditate on silence

Does silence know that it is calm
Does it exist in our physical realm
Does it dread and hide from noise
I will meditate silently till sunrise

To the green pasture I will go

As we retire to the pasture
To elevate our old stature
Green trees and blue skies
Will bind with stronger ties

Leave tiredness and rancor
For we have a solid anchor
Join the greenery to renew
So peace will not leave you

That Sundance Festival

At the old festival of Sundance
Did we not dance in abundance
You were a maiden just twenty
In cultural decorations aplenty

I’ve since found nothing merrier
No other fiesta has been prettier
I daily bless the day at the dance
A treasure our lives did enhance

A wasted journey

I’ve resisted offers of shelter
Marching in freezing weather
As the weather chilled colder
I marched more visibly bolder

Now I arrive in your presence
My journey’s singular essence
Sadly disappointed once again
Another long trip made in vain

The happy lady

If you’re lucky and truly worthy
You will see the one happy lady
At the happy shop of your mind
All that saddens you she’ll bind

Her infectious laughs confound
Grip, seize, happily dumbfound
Like whirlwinds she’ll surround
Surround you so cheers abound

Reason cures Demons

To escape, quit and desist
Old demons quickly resist
She sought gentler choices
Among several inner voices

Voice of reason was chosen
All the rest of voices frozen
Come and see gentle reason
Guarding her in all seasons
