Jim and his strange clothes

Jim the farmer bought a dancing gown
After farm work, Jim wore it into town
The old shirt Jim always wore to farm
Was angry it was never taken to town

Angry shirt spoke and won’t go back to farm
“I toil and make money for master at the farm
Every evening when this master goes to town
He goes with gown and leaves me here at home
Goodbye master, what kind of man wears a gown?"

Familiar Stranger

I was a total stranger in your country
You smiled at me with such effrontery
And I knew I had seen your face before
It is the “before’ of which I am unsure

The “before” is a puzzle of daily strife
Could it be before we came to this life
Before the existence of present existence
I know we will meet again in future tense

My useless cat

My stray cat searched for food at night
Such useless cat and he was not bright
He had a taste for a flying fowl
And ran into the ugly owl
Owl clawed his face
Cat took a race
Useless cat
Find a rat
Brat!

College Girl

I read a college book of modern sociology
Full of ology and socio but not you-ology
I have taken classes in advanced statistics
All the stats and all the tics still unrealistic
I wish I had a simple book written by you
You-ology and socio-statistics just for two

My missing dog

I searched all over town yesterday for my dog
People sneered and told me to go to my blog
Pet-er laughed, his mouth foaming like a frog
My neighbor Douglas backed away with a shrug
The neighborhood kids asked for a fee like thugs
I have not told them that it was an imaginary dog

Acting into the Twilight Zone

In the world of acting her life and love centered
To her acting roles she unwaveringly surrendered
From acting she exited and to acting she entered
Unimpeachable was the fine accounts she rendered

She immersed herself in her roles creating reality
Between fiction and reality she found no duality
She made such reality of fiction, now she is fiction
She is now in the twilight zone, the realm of friction

Story dreamer

Let me tell you a story that tied my head in knots
It twisted my mind and roped in my thinking hat
It is a weird story that spans the length and breath
Of the Nile river where the ancients laid a wreath

I found myself crossing the river in a wooden boat
But I rowed so fast my boat had to be a thunderbolt
The hat on my head came alive and told me to bolt
I retreated and discovered my head was tied in knots

Goodness gracious! I must stop falling asleep at work

I am Jealous of You

May I ask where you found those bad-looking clothes
The ugly threads assaulted my eyes and I almost froze
Where did you buy such hideous eyesores, what stores
I am so jealous of you; I wish I had clothes like yours

Your Work Pain

The strain of the work day and the pain
Induced your swearing at work in disdain
Or was it the swearing at work in disdain
That caused the work strain and the pain

Search for the answers not among the men
Also disregard a search even among women
Search inside and in the nucleus of your pain
Search truthfully and the answer you will gain

Tomorrow's Symphony

Oh come, let us compose a stirring symphony
One to motivate tomorrow’s musical journey
One with layers of culture, history, and charm
Excited, we march and raise the loudest alarm
You and I, the orchestra, the world in our palm

Jim and the Mouse

Back then when Jim played around the house
One day the house cat caught a tired mouse
Jim said the mouse was fat and simply lousy
He said the mouse was eaten for being lazy
But then Jim grew fat, lazy and plenty drowsy
Now Jim fears the cat because Jim is mousy

Are you a Clown?

When you saw the clown on his way to town
Did he not laugh and chase away your frown
When those painful blues brought you down
Were you not cured when you saw the clown
Won't you now be a clown for someone down
Come and join the clown on his way to town

Eyes and Ears are not Enough

Sure, you trust your sight and your hearing
With our sight and hearing we learn to trust
But come and see Knowledge, he is sneering
For he holds our sight and hearing in distrust

Miss Trial, the Witness

Draped and adorned in expensive suits
My colleagues litigate serious disputes
In GQ style witness displays her roots
She sees only a game of trivial pursuits

The flustered judge knows what’s in store
He, defense, and prosecutor witness adore
Distracted, their composure will not restore
The judge, the lawyers, they lost the score

Drag Queen

Yesterday, this woman on the train sat next to me
Her dress was awful like a mermaid from the sea
The man with her dressed like a pirate drinking tea
I said to him:‘sir, your wife robbed a mermaid, I see’
He said to me: ‘that was rude, but she is not a she’
I looked again and finally saw they were men like me
I said to them: ‘forgive me sirs, excuse me while I flee’

Ride on

That evening I saw you by the river Nile
You danced so well you made her smile
But your mother told you to wait a while
And here you are walking down the aisle
Son, you are quick, I wish I had your style

You and the Weaver of Words

If I weave words with fine threads pleasant to your eyes
In rich patterns of grandiose colors without compromise
If I weave for you puzzles that move you always forward
Will you see them and recognize you in my crosswords?

If you see your name in my puzzles and everlasting words
I’ll weave and stitch everyday and lift you always upward
I will weave for you a rising star and an eagle soaring high
And because of you the ink in my pen will never ever dry

Charms

You always answer when she calls
And always catch her when she falls
So she has your ears and your arms
Son, you have got her in your charms

You are the Doctor

How long will you seek physicians to soothe your pain
Unique being, you are the only master of your domain
Are you not the only supreme commander of your mind
You can empower your mind to leave yesterday behind
You are the doctor that chases away pain and madness
Rise, unchain your mind from the grips of your sadness

The Mirror of Your Mind

I know you see my face in the mirror of your mind
And this mirror is for both the sighted and the blind
If you see my face full of laughter and full of grace
Graceful laughter will in your soul also find a place

Good Morning

I saw a trumpeter and a poet in an endless duet
Trumpeter was in rapture and so was the poet
A musician and a wordsmith in an endless song
They played for you and me, yes, all night long

I danced with you and you with me, oh, so good
The night was long and full of life just as it should
We dressed so well, me in black, and you in blue
I wake and the trumpeter and poet are me and you

Good morning.

I am happy on this beautiful day

I rose this morning, full of life, wrapped in joy
I was sure you needed a good poem to enjoy
So here I sit, my mind awake for you to thrive
Yes, I rose this morning happy that I am alive
